I really enjoyed lunch here. The venue was wheelchair accessible, which was a pleasant surprise, and the food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the special (Mackerel Ajada).
The food is amazing (as always!) but the service was rather disappointing.
1. We noticed the waiter / waitress helping customers sitting next to us (both left and right) introduced each item on the special menu. That didn’t happen to us.
2. When we finished our last dish, we were thinking to order more and I told our waitress when she checked whether we were finished. Nevertheless, she took away our sharing plates. The whole meal felt quite rush and no one checked in in between dishes (again the experience for customers sitting beside us seem to be a bit different)
When we got the bill, we were asked to do a customer survey on a device, ironically, the device was not working and the survey wouldn’t load.
It’d be nice if all customers could be treated equally. My experience at other Barrafina branches have been much better!
I enjoy the food and it was delicious but when I was told to leave my table once my 1.5 hours was done and move to another by the windows on a stool. Considering the food took time to come and by the time you order the hour half is not enough. food took time as it was freshly made, it’s sad to write something negative considering the chef did a great job on the food. Just a bit of a downer to the end of the night when you’re spending £160 for two people.
Super handy location in the beautiful Coal Drops Yard. Delicious food and a real nice buzz but what made it extra great was the staff who are so friendly and helpful. Also some of the nicest red wine I've ever had (sorry I can't remember the name and didn't take a photo).
Well well well .. where do you start to describe the ultimate food destination?!
It starts with name of Manuel (who can probably wear a Michelin star on his collar)... and is the absolute Maestro of fine Spanish dining (actually from the mecca of the fine food called Galicia) and also a virtuous conductor of the Barrafina orchestra 🔥
This place has REALLY tasty, authentic Spanish food with great options for drinks as well.
(I suggest using Google lens to translate the menu if you don't know Spanish)
We ordered quite a few items.
To begin with, for drinks we ordered a bottle of Red wine (Sierra Cantabria), and one Americano (t'was a long day!)
For food, we ordered the ham croquetas (a MUST try),
the "special" croquetas,
pimientos de padron,
Pan con tomate,
Cured Monkfish (MUST try),
Gambas Rojas,
Prawn and piquillo tortilla (Must try)
Patata Bravisimas,
Baby gem and anchovies,
And Gazpacho.
For dessert we had the Crema Catalena (must try).
The food is super filling so we were quite happy. For 4 people, the bill was about 60-70 per person.
Overall it was a good experience.. great ambience as well!
Also, I suggest booking a table before hand, this place gets crowded. We had to wait for about 15-20 minutes, even with our reservation since it was really that crowded. No complaints though - the Coal Yard area is quite beautiful and one can explore the place..
Love Barrafina! Great food with lots of flavours.I recommend the counter seats, you get to see the food getting made. The restaurant is in a great location , right in the Coal Drops Yard next to the canal, with great options for shopping and after food walking. The food is reasonably priced for central London but if you are looking to have more than a few tapas and some drinks be prepared to spend more.Overall, it’s a great experience and would highly recommend it.
We absolutely love Spanish food, this place was a bit of a let down. Food was good, pricey end for what we had and level of service was what made this place a fail for us. Shame. Next level runny runny tortilla 👌 …
